Speculative evolution, to be featuring in my specialized PhD thesis next October (yes, dudes, thesis).
Four putative dwellers of future desiccated Mediterranean (next 5-10 Million years).
- Armour Sturgeon (Armipenser pachyosteus) - heavily armoured fish adaptable to water bodies with variable salinity
- Scarlet Flamingo (Deinonaias phoenicia) - very tall flamingo bird, devourer of shrimps and clams of alkaline ponds of desiccated seafloor.
- Serpentine Waral (Tanyvaranus apophis) - a monitor lizard with very elongated body that lurks within grykes of gypsum karst
- Chamoizelle (Rupizella deprofundis) - a strong limbed gazelle able to climb steep rocky walls of former Mediterranean islands, high reliefs in the desiccated basin.
